Determining the quasi monsoon front in the Indian Himalayas

چکیده
Precipitation over the southern rim of Indian Himalayan Region (IHR) mainly occurs due to two dominant synoptic weather systems: winter (IWM: December, January, February) and summer monsoon (ISM: June, July, August, September). The genesis evolution these systems are extensively researched. Additionally, geographical location, season, orography controls strengths along across IHR. However, plausible positioning frontal threshold limit precipitation during IWM ISM IHR remains an elusive scientific question. Thus, with help water samples collected in upper Bhilangana River Basin (BRB central Himalayas), attempt has been made assess this is defined as “quasi front (QMF)" Results show depleted (enriched) stable isotopic values at higher (lower) altitudes suggesting elevation control. intercepts local meteoric lines (LMWLs) glacier ice/glacier melt (2.5), snow packs/snow (7.7), stream (10.3) reflect mixing ISM. d-excess lie between value a typical (~20‰) (~10‰), moisture from both Atlantic ocean – Mediterranean sea ocean-Bay Bengal-Arabian sea. tracer based hydrographic analysis indicates dominance contributions regional hydrology. Hybrid Single Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory Model (HYSPLIT) model back trajectory mode estimates sources Based on composition associated source regions, QMF oscillates northwest southeast direction depending strength and/or weakness This work hypothesizes for upscale determination description pulsatory extension Himalayas (along BRB).

15 صفحه اولThe monsoon circulation of the Indian Ocean
In this paper, we review observations, theory and model results on the monsoon circulation of the Indian Ocean. We begin with a general overview, discussing wind-stress forcing fields and their anomalies, climatological distributions of stratification, mixed-layer depths, altimetric sea-level distributions, and seasonal circulation patterns (Section 2). The three main monsoon circulation sectio...
متن کاملTree seed traits’ response to monsoon climate and altitude in Indian subcontinent with particular reference to the Himalayas
Seed traits are related to several ecological attributes of a plant species, including its distribution. While the storage physiology of desiccation-sensitive seeds has drawn considerable attention, their ecology has remained sidelined, particularly how the strong seasonality of precipitation in monsoonal climate affects their temporal and spatial distribution. We compiled data on seed mass, se...

3D Modeling of Wind-Driven Circulation In The Northern Indian Ocean During Monsoon
Abstract The purpose of this research is to design and identify some of the natures and characteristics of high-resolution surface currents in the Northern Indian Ocean. The pattern of 3D circulation of the Wind-driven surface currents, Sea surface temperature (SST) and Sea Surface Salinity (SSS) distribution in the Northern Indian Ocean using The MIT general circulation model (MITgcm) with ho...
